Good news for residents of Membertou, Nova Scotia! The second Canada Post Community Hub has just opened in this community. Community Hubs have been a key demand of our Delivering Community Power campaign since 2016 and CUPW is pleased to see the Corporation adding to the Community Hub already open in High Prairie, Alberta. Many more are needed!
Community hubs are a reconfiguration of a Canada Post location which includes additional services to meet the needs of local communities. This is especially important in communities where vital community services may be missing.
Indigenous and rural communities often have limited or no access to important services. The Membertou Community Hub is the first post office to serve the local Mi’Kmaq community of about 1,700 residents living in and outside area. It comes with an array of services including parcel lockers, EV charging, and the new financial services including an ATM, cheque cashing and the new MyMoney Loan product.
